A Toledo house was severely damaged and a firefighter suffered minor injuries as a result of a house fire early today.

Fire Department Lt. Larry Armstrong said the firefighter slipped on the ice outside 447 East Park St. in North Toledo about 8:30 a.m. and was treated for minor injuries at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

The fire was called in about 2:25 a.m. and brought under control about 2:50 a.m., with firefighters remaining on scene putting out hot spots until about 9 a.m. Lieutenant Armstrong said Red Cross assistance was provided to one occupant of the single-family dwelling, but no one was home at the time of the blaze which severely damaged the home. He said an investigator was called and the fire was being listed as suspicious.
