Bedford Twp. awards Deputy of Year to Jay Johnson

Jay Johnson has been named the township’s Deputy of the Year for 2013.

Deputy Johnson joined the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in 2001 and has been assigned most of that time to the Bedford Township substation. He has worked on road patrol and as a detective.

A Navy veteran, he graduated from Ferris State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He has worked in Carleton, Mich., and in Ypsilanti.

The proclamation reads, “Through his dedication and hard work, [Deputy Johnson] continues to make Bedford Township and Monroe County a safe place to live and work. ... ”
