1 dies in East Toledo crash

A 29-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash with a sport utility vehicle in East Toledo just before 8 p.m. Thursday.

Darrell L. Camp of Ruthdale Avenue in East Toledo was trapped under the SUV at Longdale Avenue and Seaman Street when rescue workers arrived, according to Toledo Police. First responders were able to lift the vehicle off of him, but he was pronounced dead.

The SUV was driven by Mary Grace Maggard, 35, of Kelsey Avenue, according to police. They reported that she was driving north on Longdale, stopped at the stop sign at Seaman, and then pulled into the intersection to turn west onto Seaman.

Mr. Camp was westbound on Seaman at a high speed, according to police, when the motorcycle skidded into the SUV. He wore a helmet.
