Man in crash died of head, neck injuries

A 29-year-old Toledo man who was killed in a motorcycle-car collision died of injuries to the head and neck, authorities said Friday.

Darrell L. Camp of Ruthdale Avenue was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision with a sport utility vehicle in East Toledo just before 8 p.m. Thursday, authorities said.

Mr. Camp was trapped under the SUV at Longdale Avenue and Seaman Street when rescue workers arrived, according to Toledo police. First responders were able to lift the vehicle off of him.

The SUV was driven by Mary Grace Maggard, 35, of Kelsey Avenue, according to police. They reported that she was driving north on Longdale, stopped at the stop sign at Seaman, then pulled into the intersection to turn west onto Seaman.

Mr. Camp was westbound on Seaman at a high rate of speed, according to police, when the motorcycle skidded into the SUV. He was wearing a helmet, police reported.

Mr. Camp died of brain and neck trauma, said Dr. Diane Barnett, Lucas County deputy coroner.
