Police end standoff in Adrian

ADRIAN -- Authorities ended a standoff with a man wanted for armed robbery early today that began Saturday afternoon.

The standoff ended about 1 a.m. today when authorities fired tear gas into the home in the 1100 block of West Maumee where the suspect was believed to be.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, is in custody.

Adrian police closed off West Maumee Street between Scott and Madison streets during the standoff.

Authorities planned to serve the man with felony arrest warrants for the robbery Tuesday of a carryout.

Lenawee County Sheriff Jack Welsh told WTVG-TV, Channel 13, The Blade's media partner, that officers saw the man go into a home.

The suspect, 25, was reported to be a parole violator from Detroit, Channel 13 reported.
