ADRIAN — A standoff with a man wanted for armed robbery ended early Sunday after police fired tear gas into the home in the 1100 block of West Maumee where he was hidding.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody around 1 a.m.

Adrian police closed off West Maumee Street between Scott and Madison streets during the standoff that began Saturday night.

Authorities planned to serve the man with felony arrest warrants for the robbery Tuesday of a carryout.

Lenawee County Sheriff Jack Welsh told WTVG-TV, Channel 13, The Blade’s media partner, that officers saw the man go into a home.

The suspect, 25, was reported to be a parole violator from Detroit, Channel 13 reported.
