A former Oregon man charged in the beating death of his father was indicted Monday by a Lucas County grand jury on an additional charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Jacob Kutsch, 21, of 1082 Valley Grove Dr., Maumee, was previously indicted for murder in the Nov. 3 death of John Kutsch, 58. The elder Mr. Kutsch was found unconscious at his Earlwood Avenue home after an apparently violent struggle, police said.

The new charge, which carries a potential sentence of one to three years in prison, alleges the death occurred as the result of a misdemeanor assault offense. The more serious murder charge, which carries a sentence of 15 years to life in prison, alleges the death was a result of a felonious assault. That case is set for trial March 25 in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.
