A white van possibly involved in an attempted abduction on Tuesday of a teenage girl is prepped at Lagrange and East Pearl streets for towing to the Toledo police impound lot for investigation. The driver was arrested and questioned by detectives.

A van believed to be connected to an attempted abduction in West Toledo was found Thursday morning in North Toledo.

The white panel van was observed by a tipster who called Toledo police.

Officers found and stopped the driver of the van on Lagrange Street near East Pearl Street just after 10 a.m.

The driver, who was not charged with a crime related to any felony investigation, was driving without a license, arrested, and taken to the Safety Building detective bureau for questioning. He was issued a citation for driving without a license and later released from custody.

The van was towed from the scene to the police impound lot, where it will be turned over to a licensed driver.

In the West Toledo incident, a 17-year-old girl told police a man tried to lure her into a van Tuesday morning in the 2600 block of West Sylvania Avenue.

The girl, a student at the nearby Horizon Science Academy, told police that just after 10 a.m. a man in a white-panel van approached her and asked her to get into the vehicle. She declined and called the police.

The teenager described the suspect as a light-skinned black man; 5 feet, 9 inches tall; thin build; and 30 to 40 years old, police have said.

The girl told police the van had a ladder rack without ladders on top. The vehicle description is similar to what was reported by students to Sylvania police twice in February.

A Sylvania police official said their department had not yet been in contact with Toledo police about the vehicle.
