Fatal fire in Bowling Green

Man found dead at the scene on South Main Street identified as Marshall Drake.

    BOWLING GREEN — Police have identified Marshall B. Drake as the man who died today in a fire on South Main Street.

     Artist Clayton Peterson who lives at 127 South Main Street, site of the fire, said he was escorted out of the front of the building around 1:30 in the morning by responders.

    The 52-year-old man was found dead in his bed in a second floor apartment above 127 S. Main after the fire was reported at 1:12 a.m., the Bowling Green Fire Department said.

    Paramedics from the Bowling Green Fire Division attempted CPR to revive Mr. Drake, but were unsuccessful.

    The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
