TEMPERANCE — The township board last week approved hiring David Meyer as the township’s supervising ordinance officer. He will be paid $18 per hour for a 15-hour work week and replaces Steve Heer. Mr. Meyer has been an officer with the Dundee Police Department and was a detective sergeant at the Monroe post of the Michigan State Police.

In other action, the board unanimously rejected recommendations from the compensation committee that would have given 1.3 percent raises to the supervisor, treasurer, clerk, and trustees for each of the next two years and increase — to $55 from $50 — the per diem paid to trustees for attending meetings other than regular board meetings. The park commission’s five members also would have gotten raises under the recommendations.
