Authorities ID victim of Erie Township crash

ERIE, Mich. — Authorities have identified Shelagh Eckenberg, 60, of Temperance as the woman who was killed in a two-car, head-on crash in Erie Township on Wednesday.

Ms. Eckenberg was pronounced dead at the scene, Erie Township police said.

Justin Kitzmiller, 32, the other driver, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, police said. His address was not released. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name.

Police said the two cars were driving in the opposite directions on Telegraph Road just south of Luna Pier Road about 8:30 a.m. when Mr. Kitzmiller for unknown reasons apparently drove across the center line and into the path of the woman's car.

The crash remains under investigation.
