TIFFIN — The Ohio Highway Patrol has identified Charlotte Schumm, 81, and Donald Schumm, 82, as the Tiffin couple who were killed Friday in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 224, just east of Tiffin.

Mrs. Schumm, who was driving a minivan, and Mr. Schumm, a passenger in the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the patrol's Sandusky post

Mrs. Schumm was driving west on U.S. 224 in Bloom Township about 6:40 p.m. when her vehicle was struck head-on by a pickup truck driven by Timothy Voress, 53, of Lima, who for unknown reasons had driven across the center line and into the path of the minivan, troopers said.

Mr. Voress and Victor Reamer, 82, also of Tiffin and also a passenger in the minivan, were flown to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, according to the patrol. Their conditions were unavailable.

Nicholas Voress, 27 and Jacob Voress, 13, both of Lima and passengers in the pickup, were taken by an EMS vehicle to Mercy Tiffin Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, troopers said.

A portion of U.S. 224 was closed about four hours while troopers and emergency personnel were on scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Tiffin, the seat of Seneca County, is about 50 miles southeast of Toledo.
