A Toledo man drove himself to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after being shot in the head Thursday afternoon, police said.

The victim’s name was unavailable late Thursday, according to police.

He was shot at North Detroit and Arcadia avenues, in central Toledo, at about 3:10 p.m., detectives said.

Police investigating the shooting scene found several spent shell casings, at least one of them being a 40-caliber.

Several neighbors reported hearing at least four or five gunshots.

Willie Jordan, who owns 3201 N. Detroit, near where the victim was shot, said he has owned property in the area for 20 years.

“I’ve never had anything like that happen since I’ve been over here,” he said.

A woman who lives nearby said she was in her bathroom when she heard four gunshots. She and her cousin both dropped to the floor when they heard the first “pop,” she said.

“It would not be wise to hear gunshots and go to the window,” she said. She declined to give her name, fearing retaliation.

“Anonymity is the key,” she said. “I don’t want retaliation on me. I got to live here.”
