DUNBRIDGE, Ohio -- A Bowling Green teen was seriously injured in a collision at a rural intersection in Wood County's Center Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.

Tyrus Antonio Alvarez, 16, was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with what troopers said were life-threatening injuries after the 5:14 p.m. crash at Dunbridge and Sugar Ridge roads. Tyrus is in critical condition in medical intensive care, a hospital spokesman said.

According to the report, young Alvarez's car was eastbound on Sugar Ridge when it failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck in the driver's-side door by a sport-utility vehicle driven southbound by Renee Wendt, 51, of Dunbridge, Ohio. The Wendt vehicle went off the left side of the road and rolled, while the Alvarez vehicle came to rest off the intersection's southeast corner.

Ms. Wendt and her passenger, Hailey Wendt, 12, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Wood County Hospital for treatment, troopers said. All involved wore seat belts. Neither alcohol nor drug use were believed to be factors in the collision, which remained under investigation Friday night.
