Toledo motorist found shot dies at hospital

A Toledo man was pronounced dead today at a local hospital after he was found shot inside of a car on North Reynolds Road near Newhart Circle, between Dorr and Bancroft streets.

Police said Kenneth Collins, 20, of Campbell Street in Toledo, was found with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital.

His death is the 12th homicide in Toledo and the 13th in the metro area. Police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said today that there are no suspects at this time.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on patrol observed a car stopped in the middle of the northbound lanes about 2:30 a.m. Mr. Collins was found in the driver's seat.

Detectives and crime scene investigators spent several hours collecting forensic evidence and gathering information about what may have led up to the apparent crime.
