Sandusky woman killed in SUV-motorycle crash

SANDUSKY -- A Sandusky woman was killed when a motorcycle she was driving and a sport utility vehicle collided Monday on State Rt. 101 just south of Sandusky, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Kristina McGraw, 48, who was thrown from the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at 8:03 p.m. Monday  at Firelands Regional Medical Center, according to the patrol's Sandusky post. Mrs. McGraw was not wearing a helmet at the time of crash, the patrol said.

Mrs. McGraw was driving south on Route 101 at Superior Street in Erie County’s Margaretta Township about 7:10 p.m. when an SUV driven by Jaime Ruiz, 16, of Canton, turned from northbound Route 101 left onto Superior and into the path of the motorcycle, troopers said. Young Ruiz had failed to yield the right of way, according to the patrol.

Young Ruiz and his passenger, Kaitlan Olivo,17, also of Canton, were also taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries and later released, according to the patrol. They were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash, troopers said.

The crash remained under investigation.

Sandusky is about 55 miles east of Toledo.
