Alexander Nachtrab, 17, of Perrysburg was killed when he lost control of his 2003 Kawasaki 250 and struck a curb Saturday evening, according to Perrysburg police Sgt. Dean Butler.

The Nachtrab youth was traveling approximately 40 mph westbound near the 900 block of W. South Boundary Street just west of State Rte. 25 when the accident occurred, Sergeant Butler said. Perrysburg police received a call reporting the accident at 5:40 p.m.

The Nachtrab youth had a temporary instruction permit for motorcyclists, Sergeant Butler said. The permit restricts motorcyclists to ride only without passengers on uncongested, noninterstate roads in daylight hours while wearing a helmet. The youth, who had just completed his junior year at Perrysburg High School, was wearing a helmet, Sergeant Butler said.

Two other motorcyclists were riding beside him on their own bikes. Neither was involved in the crash. Sergeant Butler said there were no problems with road conditions at the scene of the accident and he does not believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
