2 men arraigned in separate Toledo shootings

Two men, accused in two separate shootings, were arraigned today in Toledo Municipal Court.

Gregory Burgess, 23, of Los Angeles, was ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $250,000. He is charged with one count of felonious assault.

Police allege that Mr. Burgess ran out of a new downtown club, Club Ellyzees, 319 N. Superior St., and fired numerous shots into a crowd from across the street early Sunday morning.

Miguel Garcia, 22, of Toledo, was hit in an an ankle; he was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect fled from police and dropped the .40-caliber gun, but was arrested a short time later. An off-duty Toledo police officer was working at the club at the time of the shooting. In court document, police said the officer witnessed the shooting.

Also arraigned today was Anthony Tardiff, 23, of 305 Willard St., who was ordered to be held in lieu of $500,000 bond. He is charged with two counts of felonious assault.

Police allege that Mr. Tardiff shot into 1218 Halstead St., injuring Charles Jackson, 34, and Darnell Buck, 38.

A police report states that the suspect and another man were at the Halstead home visiting with two women at 5 a.m. Sunday, when the victims came home and told the suspects to leave.

The victims reportedly had to force out the suspects, according to an incident report.

A short time later, numerous rounds were fired into the home. Mr. Jackson was reportedly shot five times and Mr. Buck was shot once, the report states

Both were taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. The victims' conditions were not immediately available.

A 15-year-old boy was also scheduled to have a detention hearing today in Lucas County Juvenile Court for allegedly shooting another teen Saturday night.

Deshawn Jones, of Toledo, was ordered today to be held in juvenile detention; he is charged with one count of felonious assault with a gun specification.

Wounded in the shooting was Kevion Jones, 16, of Toledo. He was shot at least twice – in a right shoulder and his abdomen, police reported.

Prosecutor Lori Olender, who oversees the juvenile division of the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office, said she is gathering more information about the shooting before she decides whether or not to pursue adult certification for the teenage suspect.
