Toledo police made 735 traffic stops during a recent series of traffic-enforcement blitzes coinciding with local high school proms and the national “Click-it or Ticket” seat belt campaign during Memorial Day weekend, the department announced.

The stops between May 20 and June 2 resulted in 484 speeding tickets, 33 license-violation citations, and 30 seat-belt tickets, police said.

Ninety-one tickets were issued for other moving violations and 161 warnings were given.

Officers working the blitzes were paid primarily from a grant administered by the Traffic Safety Office of the Ohio Department of Criminal Justice.
