City employee held on assault, other charges

A city employee accused of violating a protection order and assaulting his estranged wife appeared in Toledo Municipal Court on Tuesday.

Charles King, 36, of 172 Mettler St. is charged with recklessly violating a protection order, violating a protection order, assault, and domestic violence. He was ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $100,000.

Mr. King, who works for the Department of Streets, Bridges, and Harbor, is accused of confronting his estranged wife, punching her in the face, and pulling her out of her vehicle by her shirt collar on June 20, the charges state.

Mr. King was arrested Monday after he was seen driving a city dump truck. He is to appear in court again today.
