Victim ID'd in E. Toledo shooting; Ford SUV sought

The man injured in an East Toledo shooting early today has been identified as Robert Douglas.Mr. Douglas, who was shot in his stomach, was found laying on the sidewalk next to Roby's Night Club, 600 E. Broadway, at 1:50 a.m., police said.

The victim was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, though a spokesman had no information about his condition.

Police said they did not find any shell casings at the scene.

As police converged on the area, police broadcast a description of a Ford Expedition seen fleeing the area. The SUV had a distinctive grille construction with the appearance of shark's teeth. Subsequent radio traffic by police said the vehicle may have been used in a violent crime last month.

The vehicle was last seen near Nevada and Berry streets, police said.

The suspect, whose identity was not known, was described by the victim as black, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 140 pounds, and was wearing a black T-shirt and red cargo shorts.
