MONROE — A 16-year-old boy was placed in detention after he was arrested and accused of burglarizing several businesses along South Telegraph Road and South Custer Road in the past month, authorities said.

The boy’s name was withheld to protect the privacy of a juvenile, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. His arrest was based on video surveillance, related evidence, and recent reports, deputies said.

The boy was taken into custody without incident Friday at his Monroe Township home, deputies said. During questioning, he admitted to nine break-ins incidents between June 9 and Wednesday, deputies said.

A court hearing was held later in the day and the boy was lodged at the Monroe County Youth Center.
