Findlay police searching for suspect who refused to stop for alleged traffic violation

FINDLAY -- Findlay police today are looking for a man who they said refused to stop after an alleged traffic violation in Findlay, then led area law enforcement agents on a vehicle chase to a corn field near Fostoria, ditched his pickup truck, and escaped on foot.

About 12:40 a.m., police tried and failed to stop a pickup for an alleged traffic violation on County Road 236 near Heatherwood Drive, police said. A 17-minute pursuit ensued via four county roads, ending in a corn filed about 13.5-miles away, west of Fostoria and just east of 21370 County Road 226, according to police.

Findlay police said the man then drove about 1,400 feet northeast through the corn filed, then abandoned the pickup, and fled on foot. Hancock County police, Ohio Highway Patrol, and a Fostoria police canine unit searched the area but did not find the man, authorities said. 

Findlay, the seat of Hancock County, is about 45 miles south of Toledo.
