Toledo Deputy Mayor Steve Herwat on Tuesday said a boil advisory continues for homes in the vicinity of a broken water main at Grantwood and Yellowstone drives in West Toledo.
The break, which occurred during repairs to a sewer line, caused flooding from the sewer system into four basements.
In an email, Mr. Herwat said during repairs to a sanitary sewer on Grantwood, workers found a water line encased in backfill. “In the process ... we broke the water main.”
A 12-foot cave-in is being repaired, he said. The boil advisory is expected to be in effect for three to five days, city officials said.
