Bond set at $1 million for suspect in killing of Toledo man

Bond was set at $1 million today for a man accused in the shooting, stabbing, and beating death of a Toledo man.

David Zielinski, 33, of Swanton Township, appeared in Toledo Municipal Court for arraignment on a charge of aggravated murder in the death of Michael Jackson, 20. His case was continued until Thursday so he can hire an attorney. The suspect was ordered held in lieu of the bond at the Lucas County jail without an option to pay 10 percent and be released.

Mr. Zielinski was arrested Tuesday at Pilot Travel Center, 5820 Hagman Rd., near the Michigan border after being on the run since Sunday, according to Toledo police.

The suspect allegedly killed Mr. Jackson early Sunday as he slept at 1650 W. Central Ave. Mr. Jackson was dating the suspect’s estranged wife, Amber Hayes, police said.

The suspect showed no emotion in court, where the victim's family members were also present.
