A Toledo police lieutenant was injured when his vehicle was struck broadside Wednesday night as he went through the Berdan Avenue-Jackman Road intersection on his way to a weapons call, police said.

Lt. Frank Ramirez was being evaluated at Toledo Hospital, a ProMedica spokesman said.

The police vehicle was on Jackman and had lights and sirens on, reported WTVG-TV, Channel 13, media partner of The Blade. Samuel Leech, who was eastbound on Berdan, was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.
