A Lucas County corrections officer has been arrested for allegedly smuggling contraband into the county jail, Sheriff John Tharp announced.

Michelle Vining, 31, of West Toledo was arrested upon her arrival for work today and is charged with drug conveyance, the sheriff said, adding that drugs were found in her car. The arrest culminated a three-week investigation prompted by jailhouse tips, he said.

Ms. Vining, a 10-year jail employee, is accused of smuggling Percocet, marijuana, and contraband tobacco into the facility, the sheriff said.
