A Summerfield, Fla. man was arrested and accused of deliberately crashing a car in which his wife was a passenger Monday on I-75 in Rossford, authorities said.

Donnie Hill, 51, who was driving the car, was arrested after receiving treatment at a local hospital and charged with felonious assault in the incident, Rossford police said. He was being held today in lieu of a $75,000 bond in the Wood County jail pending arraignment at Perrysburg Municipal Court later in the day, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Office.

Mr. Hill's wife, whose name and condition were not released, was also injured.

Rossford and Perrysburg Township police officers responding to a report of an injury crash on southbound I-75 at the Buck Road overpass arrived about 10:50 a.m. and subdued the driver who allegedly had threatened bystanders and appeared to want to flee, according to Rossford police. Also injured in the crash was the man's wife, whose name was not released.

Witnesses allegedly told investigators that the car driven by Mr. Hill  "seemed to purposely travel off of the highway during high acceleration, strike the guardrail, and then traveled an additional 75 feet off of the roadway," according to Rossford police. Witnesses also reported hearing Mr. Hill admit that he wanted to kill "the occupants of his car," police said in the statement.
