Ottawa County Sheriff's Office announces 2 sobriety checkpoints

PORT CLINTON -- Sobriety checkpoints will be held on Perry Street in Port Clinton from 11 p.m. today to 1 a.m. Saturday and on State Rt. 53 in Catawba Island, Ohio,  from 8:30 to 10 p.m. today, authorities said.

There will also be an increased number of law enforcement agents looking for impaired drivers, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. The exact locations of the checkpoints were not revealed.

Other law enforcement agencies participating include the Ohio Highway Patrol and area police departments.

Port Clinton, the seat of Ottawa County, is about 40 miles east of Toledo.
