Port Clinton man killed in Sandusky County crash

FREMONT -- One person died in a Sandusky County crash today in Townsend Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Robby L. Adkins, 35, of Port Clinton died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that took place at 8:40 a.m. today on U.S. 6, east of milepost 27.

Authorities said a 1994 Buick LeSabre driven by Mr. Adkins was headed east on U.S. 6 when it drove left of center and struck a semi-truck headed west driven by James R. Baird, 57, of Arlington, Ohio.

The head-on collision caused both vehicles to go off the south side of U.S. 6.

Mr. Adkins was not wearing a seat belt, according to a highway patrol news release. U.S. 6 was closed for about four hours. Mr. Baird was not injured.
