PORT CLINTON — Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday on State Rt. 163 east of Church Road in Ottawa County’s Danbury Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.

Bruce W. Peterson 57, of Port Clinton was stopped eastbound on Route 163 behind a vehicle that was waiting to make a left turn about 8:35 a.m. when his pickup truck was struck from behind by a car driven by Norbert E. Monak, 78, of Marblehead, Ohio, troopers from the patrol’s Sandusky post said. A car driven by Justin Tyson, 20, of Oak Harbor, then struck Mr. Monak’s car in the rear.

Mr. Peterson and Mr. Tyson wore seat belts and suffered minor injuries. Mr. Monak was taken to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton and then flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

Troopers cited Mr. Tyson for failure to stop in an assured clear distance ahead and driving under suspension. An investigation continued later Friday.
