A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday when he drove left of center and into a vehicle in Seneca County's Loudon Township, troopers with the Fremont post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Kenneth Pelton, 43, of Carey, Ohio, was southbound on U.S. 23 near U.S. 224 about 4:10 p.m. when he went left of center and began to pass southbound traffic. A southbound vehicle driven by Cindy Ann Hoepf, 50, of Alvada, Ohio, was southbound on U.S. 23 and had slowed to make a left turn into a driveway when her vehicle was struck by Mr. Pelton's motorcycle, troopers said. Mr. Pelton, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown, and his motorcycle struck a mailbox. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mrs. Hoepf did not report injuries, troopers said.

U.S. 23 was closed for about three hours as troopers investigated. The crash site is about 40 miles southeast of Toledo.
