Toledo firefighters late today remained at a blaze that engulfed a vacant house in the 900 block of Earl Street in East Toledo.

Heavy flames throughout the two-story building greeted the first crews to arrive shortly after 9 p.m. The battalion chief in command ordered that the fire be fought from the outside only. Aerial ladders were used to contain the blaze and to keep it from spreading to adjoining houses.

Firefighters reported a partial collapse of the building on Earl about 9:15 p.m. The main part of the fire was knocked down by 9:40 p.m., authorities said.

No injuries were reported.
