Bond set at $500,000 for man charged in city's latest shooting

A Toledo man accused in a Saturday afternoon shooting in which two people were wounded – one fatally – is being held in the Lucas County jail.

Denell Lewis, 23, of 3205 Cottage Ave., is charged with felonious assault and improper discharge of a firearm. He was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court today; his bond was set at $500,000.

Lewis is accused of shooting Anthony Porter in the torso outside 123 W. Park St. in North Toledo just before 3 p.m.

According to court records, four adults and two children were outside the home when the shooting started.

James Bragg, 21, was also shot during the midday incident.

Bragg, who would have turned 22 today, died at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after being shot at least once.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.

No murder charges have been filed against Lewis as of early today.
