JERRY CITY, Ohio -- A Wood County sheriff's deputy and another motorist were injured Wednesday evening when the deputy's patrol car and a sport utility vehicle collided at State Rt. 281 and Huffman Road in Portage Township.

Deputy Josh Augsburger was flown to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening, the sheriff said.

The Ohio Highway Patrol said the other driver, Krysten J. King, 18, of Defiance suffered minor injuries and was treated at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green.

The crash, reported at 6:35 p.m., occurred when Ms. King's 2006 Kia Sportage struck the 2010 Chevrolet Impala patrol car after Deputy Augsburger failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign at Huffman Road, troopers said.

Troopers at the Bowling Green post of the Ohio Highway Patrol were investigating. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.
