JERRY CITY, Ohio — The condition of a Wood County sheriff’s deputy who was injured when his patrol car collided with a sport utility vehicle near this community has improved.

Deputy Josh Augsburger was listed in good condition late Thursday at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, said a hospital spokesman.

He had been flown there with reported serious injuries after the incident at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, said a hospital spokesman.

The other driver, Krysten J. King, 18, of Defiance, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

The crash at State Rt. 281 and Huffman Road in Portage Township occurred when Ms. King’s 2006 Kia Sportage struck the 2010 Chevrolet Impala patrol car after Deputy Augsburger failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign at Huffman Road, troopers said.

No citations were issued. The crash remained under investigation by the patrol.
