Twenty-nine years after being charged with aggravated robbery and felonious assault, a Toledo man had his first day in court Tuesday.

Odis Hughes, 61, is accused of robbing a Sohio gas station, now a BP, at 3104 Cherry St. on March 23, 1984, and causing “serious physical harm” to a 34-year-old female attendant who was stabbed repeatedly and found lying on the floor in a back room.

Mr. Hughes was ordered held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing today.

Charges were filed in Toledo Municipal Court the day of robbery, in which a man got away with $3,800 in cash. The following September, police asked for public help in locating Mr. Hughes. The circumstances of Mr. Hughes’ arrest were not available Tuesday.

Court records revealed no subsequent charges filed against Mr. Hughes.
