A Toledo woman has died after her car struck a safety barrier today on northbound I-75 at the downtown Toledo exit. 

A Toledo woman has died after her car struck a safety barrier today on northbound I-75 at the downtown Toledo exit.

The crash was reported about 4:40 p.m. at the barrier that divides northbound traffic from vehicles taking the downtown exit, Toledo police Officer Jeff Dorner said.

The driver, Jacquelyn Williams, 63, of Brookview Drive, was treated at the scene by Toledo fire department paramedics and taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. She was pronounced dead at 5:48 p.m.

Police do not know why Ms. Williams struck the barrier, Officer Dorner said. She was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.

A crash involving three vehicles on southbound I-75 at the I-475 split was reported about 5:05 p.m. and slowed traffic in the area. Details were not available, but authorities reported that any injuries were not life threatening.
