A Toledo woman was killed Thursday afternoon and her mother was seriously hurt when her car collided with two tractor-trailers after crossing the median on I-475/U.S. 23 in Springfield Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.

Lori Sheehan, 48, was pronounced dead at University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, after the 2:51 p.m. crash just north of the State Rt. 2 (Airport Highway) interchange. Passenger Marcia Michalski, 69, also of Toledo, was seriously hurt and also taken to UTMC, troopers from the state patrol's Toledo post said.

According to the report, Ms. Sheehan was northbound when her vehicle exited the left side of the roadway, crossed the median, and collided with on-coming semis driven by Thomas McKee, 28, of Birmingham, Ala., and Gurdip Dhillion, 42, of Sacramento, Calif. The first impact dislodged a spare tire from Ms. Sheehan's car and it hit a northbound car driven by Danny Amos, 65, of Temperance, troopers said.

No one in any of the other vehicles was injured. Mr. McKee's vehicle entered the median after the initial impact and rolled onto its side. Southbound I-475 was closed for nearly five hours after the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
