FOSTORIA — A Tiffin man died Monday after his sport utility vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer rig on Hancock County Road 330 near Fostoria.

Craig Scalf, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.

Mr. Scalf was driving west on Hancock County Road 216 about 5:30 a.m. when he failed to stop for a stop sign at County Road 330 and struck the trailer of the rig driven by James Cole, 45, of Mount Blanchard, Ohio, who was driving north on County Road 330, sheriff deputies said.

The collision closed County Road 330 for several hours, a dispatcher said.

Mr. Cole was not hurt. The crash is under investigation.
