Authorities have identified Mariah Wells as the woman who was shot and killed Wednesday evening in North Toledo by a man she knew.

The victim was named in an affidavit that also identifies the murder suspect as Dimitrias A. Graves, 27, of 159 Everett St., for whom an arrest warrant was issued overnight. He caused her death "as a result of committing felonious assault offenses against three additional victims," according to the affidavit, which was filed at the Toledo Municipal Court today.

Ms. Wells, 22, was found near the sidewalk of 658 Spring St., where Graves’ mother lives, shortly after police were called on a report of gunfire at 7:48 p.m., according to police. Police do not believe the deceased woman lived there, Toledo Police Sgt. Tim Noble said. She was shot at least once, according to police.

A second woman caught up in the same incident was being treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for an eye injury, according to police.  She was shot in the eye, according to the affidavit. Her name was not released.

Sergeant Noble said investigators learned of nearby violence in the vicinity of Stickney and St. John avenues that was believed to have been related to the shooting on Spring. He asked anyone who sees the suspect to immediately call police or Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.

The suspect knew the victim, is familiar to police, and is considered armed and dangerous, Sergeant Noble said. It was not immediately clear if the two women knew each other.

Authorities did not release the names of the other two victims.

This is the city's 27th homicide and 28th in the Toledo metro area.
