2 people shot in West Toledo

Alleged robber killed; clerk injured

A man and woman — a would-be robber and a clerk — were shot late Saturday at a convenience store in the 3100 block of West Sylvania Avenue, Toledo police said.

The pair exchanged gunfire about 9:25 p.m. at the Stop & Go on West Sylvania and Rohr Drive. Nearly an hour later, police remained at the store and could be seen taking pictures behind the store counter.

The man and woman were taken to Toledo Hospital. The man was later pronounced dead, said Dr. Cynthia Beisser, a Lucas County deputy coroner. Their names and her condition were not released.

A person who was about to enter the store when shots were fired could be a witness, and the store was equipped with a camera, police said.
