UPPER SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Richard L. Clark, Jr., was arraigned today on two charges of aggravated murder in the shooting deaths of two people at the Carey Conservation and Sportsman’s Association.

Mr. Clark, 65, of rural Tiffin, allegedly shot Roger Fredritz, 49, of rural Carey, and Cynthia L. Hawkinberry, of rural Tiffin, on Friday at the club, where both victims were pronounced dead after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

Mr. Clark was arraigned today in Upper Sandusky Municipal Court. His bond was set at $2 million cash or surety, with several conditions including no contact with the victims’ families.

He is being held at the Crawford County Jail.

The Lucas County Coroner’s Office performed autopsies on the victims. Dr. Joseph Sberna, Wyandot County coroner, could not be reached today to discuss results from the autopsies.

The sportsman’s club, located in Crawford Township several miles east of Carey, is closed until Wednesday due to Friday’s “unfortunate events,” according to a message posted on its Web site.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the members that were affected by this incident,” the statement said.

A message left at the club was not returned.
