LA CRESCENTA, Calif. — Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies say a gunman has barricaded himself inside a store in a La Crescenta shopping center and neighboring businesses are being evacuated.

A sheriff’s employee at the La Crescenta station says the standoff began around 4 p.m. today at a Verizon Wireless store.

Black Friday shoppers are being evacuated from a Ralphs supermarket and other stores in the strip mall.

Authorities say the gunman appears to be alone in the store but other details aren’t being released.

The area is about a dozen miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
