A hat left behind at a West Toledo convenience store during an October robbery led police to a suspect.

Rachel Chandler, 37, of 226 Kenilworth Ave., is charged with one count of robbery and was held Friday in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $20,000 bond following arraignment last week in Toledo Municipal Court. She is scheduled back in court Wednesday.

Stop & Go, 3131 W. Sylvania Ave., was robbed Oct. 17 by a masked woman, police said. The woman jumped over the counter, pushed an employee, and tried to take the cash register. The suspect took more than $100 from the register and fled, according to a police report.

From the scene, police collected surveillance video and a hat that fell off the woman’s head as she hurdled the counter.

On Nov. 27, DNA from the hat linked it to Chandler, who was arrested Tuesday, police said.
