The gun is in the sock — at least, that’s what someone who has robbed at least three Toledo businesses in the last few days has told those stores’ employees.

The first incident was reported Friday at Tim Hortons, 5640 Airport Hwy. Employees told police they were working at 10:55 p.m. when a man came into the store and pointed something tucked inside a sock at them and demanded cash from the registers.

The robber fled after receiving $200, police said.

Similar robberies were reported at 11:16 p.m. Sunday at Stop N Go, 2205 N. Holland-Sylvania Rd., and at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at Rudy’s Hot Dog restaurant, 4747 Glendale Ave.

A clerk at the carryout told police a man came in and showed what appeared to be a gun hidden in a sock. The robber demanded cash, ordered the clerk to the floor, and fled with an undetermined amount. Another gun-in-sock scenario occurred at the restaurant.

Police ask that anyone with information call the Crime Stopper program at 419-255-1111.
