SWANTON - A 59-year-old Fulton County woman was seriously injured today by two dogs after entering her neighbor's house while no one was home.

The Fulton County Sheriff's Office and the Fulton County Dog Warden's Office were dispatched at 9:25 a.m. to 2469 County Road D in Swancreek Township. According to a news release from the sheriff's office, the woman was attacked by two American bulldogs. She got away and returned to her own home where her husband called 911.

The woman was taken to a Toledo-area hospital with severe bites to her face, neck, legs, and arms. Her condition is unknown, though her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Brian Banister, the county dog warden, said there were three American bulldogs in the house, but only two are believed to have participated in the attack. The dogs remain at home under a 10-day rabies quarantine. Mr. Banister said an investigation is ongoing, the results of which will be forwarded to the county prosecutor for determination of possible charges.

The names of the victim and the dog owner were not released. A phone number listed to the address where the dogs live rang unanswered today.
