Two tanning salons in West Toledo were robbed on Wednesday in a 2 ½-hour period.

Police Sgt. Joe Heffernan said it seems as if the robberies could be related because of the similar getaway vehicle description and because the same business at different locations were targeted.

Detectives had not identified a suspect on Wednesday night, but they said their investigation is ongoing.

The first robbery was reported at Tan Pro, 2104 W. Laskey Rd., at 11:35 a.m. by a man who acted as if he was carrying a gun in the waist of his pants.

An employee told police the man handed her a note that demanded cash, according to a police incident report. With an unspecified amount of cash in hand, the suspect fled in a small gray vehicle, police said.

Just after 2 p.m., Tan Pro at 3324 Secor Rd. was robbed.

A suspect description, and additional information about the robbery, was not available, although police said the suspect fled in a small gray vehicle.

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, another West Toledo business was robbed, just around the corner from the Secor Tan Pro.

Police were investigating a hold-up at the UPS store, 3550 Executive Pkwy.

Additional information was not available, but initial reports suggested that the suspect description matched that of the Tan Pro suspect.

Three other West Toledo businesses were robbed between Monday night and Tuesday morning. Sergeant Heffernan said it’s too soon to say if any of them are related.

Police did release on Wednesday a surveillance image of a man who is believed to have robbed Family Video, 5886 Dorr St., at 4:18 p.m. Monday.

Police said the man handed a note to the clerk and then the suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white shoes, and a black hat.

Police ask that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
