Driver dies in collision with ODOT truck

FREMONT — The driver of a passenger car was killed Sunday evening when the vehicle collided with the back of an Ohio Department of Transportation truck on U.S. 6 at the bypass near the State Rt. 19 exit in Fremont, state troopers said.

The driver of the ODOT truck was flown to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio, in Toledo.

Neither driver was identified.

Troopers with the Fremont post said the crash occurred at 8:55 p.m. The ODOT truck was in the eastbound lane, troopers said.

Highway conditions were clear at the time, they said.

The accident remained under investigation.
