SANDUSKY -- Two people were injured, one seriously, in a single-vehicle rollover crash Friday night in Erie County's Perkins Township.

Troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol's Sandusky post said John B. Dugan III, 35, of Sandusky was southbound on Columbus Avenue north of Boston Street about 8:05 p.m. when his sport-utility vehicle drove off the left side of the road, back onto the road, and overturned. The SUV came to rest against a fence off the right side of the road.

Both lanes of Columbus were closed for about an hour.

Mr. Dugan, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. His passenger, Victoria L. Wiedle, 43, of Sandusky, was taken to Firelands with serious injuries, troopers said. It was unknown whether she wore a seat belt.

Troopers said that alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation later Friday.
